1. Have an authentic Cuban breakfast
You may want to begin your day with a shot of Cuba’s legendary cortadito, which is espresso that has been sweetened with sugar and topped off with steamed milk, or a steaming cup ofcafé con leche, which is coffee with milk. In Havana and all other parts of Cuba, a standard breakfast consists of coffee, toast and some fresh fruits.
2. Take a drive down the Malecón.
If you truly want to enjoy Havana as the locals do, a drive down the Malecón is a must. It is an esplanade that is around 5-mile long. During the hot weather, you will find little children trying to beat the heat by playing around in the many sea baths that line the Malecón. In the evening, locals gather here for music, dance, and drinks against the gorgeous backdrop of the ocean.
3. Take a tour of the city
Since you have 24 hours in hand, you must try to see as much of the city as you can. And how do you do that? By booking a day tour. Many tour companies offer such services. Make sure you choose a reputed company. If want to take a trip to Havana of the ’50s, choose our private tours, which include a picturesque ride through the city streets in our vintage cars. Our tours cover popular tourist destinations like Fusterlandia, 5th Avenue and its colonial mansions, Revolution Square, Havana Forest and much more.
4. How about some cigars and rum?
No trip to Havana can be complete without sampling some cigars and rum. Just make sure that you choose the right shops. Ask the locals for a recommendation. A cigar, especially the Cohiba, makes for a great souvenir to take home. Grab a cocktail at one of the many paladars in the city to get a taste of some exquisite rum.
